Claire was in her bedroom getting ready, but she could tell the house was a hive of activity with everyone prepping for the wedding. Of course, Cash wouldn't need a lot of time. Men never did. But her mom and sister were undoubtedly taking their time to look their best.

Claire was no different. She took extra care with her hair, blow-drying it with her rounded brush the way Trina had showed her. She carefully applied her makeup, going a little heavier than she did for everyday. Finally, she put on the sundress she’d chosen. There would be a lot of pictures taken, not necessarily of her, but she would definitely be in some of them, and she wanted to look as good as she could.

Having the cake done was a huge relief. Getting her mom’s approval on it had been a nice bonus. Now, all that remained was for Willie and Miguel to like it as well. And Danny, too, naturally. She really wanted to impress him.

Hopefully, she would.

The nice thing about having a wedding at the house was that she didn’t need to bring a purse. Her sundress had pockets and those were sufficient. She tucked her lipstick into one pocket and a couple of folded tissues in the other. She wasn’t sure this wedding was going to make her cry, but she wasn’t taking any chances on messing up the makeup she’d so meticulously applied.

She slipped on her strappy black sandals and took a look at herself in the mirrored closet doors. Not bad. Certainly better than she’d looked in a long time.

The few pounds she’d lost seemed most visible in her face. It was almost as if she had cheekbones again. That was a nice thing to see. How had she not noticed it before? Maybe the blush she had used had really brought them out. The new cut and color Trina had given her helped a lot, too.

Smiling, she grabbed her phone and went out to the kitchen. There was a young woman she’d never seen before sitting on the couch. “Hello, there.”

The young woman smiled at her. “Hi. I’m Sierra. I'm playing with Jules and Cash for the wedding. I’ve been working with Jules on her new song, too. I sing and play the keyboard.”

Claire gave her a little wave. “Nice to meet you, Sierra. I’m Claire. I’m Jules’s sister and Cash’s aunt.”

“Are you the one who made that cake?”

Claire nodded. “That would be me.”

“Wow.” Sierra breathed the word out in obvious admiration. “That thing is crazy good.”

Claire couldn’t help but nod. “Thanks. I appreciate that.”

“It must have taken you forever. What flavor is it?”

“As requested by the bride and groom, pina colada.”

“For real? I can’t wait to taste it.”

“Me, too.” Claire took a few pictures of the cake, getting it from all angles. Then she did a video, doing the same thing. She walked around slowly, making sure to capture the entire thing. She knew there would be professional pictures, but she wanted these for herself.
